With its debut “Same”, Folie 1, a project of Sabine Reif, leads us into a menacing world full of moody creatures, meandering melodies and squeezed-from-the-soul lyrics evoking an uncomfortable setting. Plain drums and gentle tunes mate to create flickering musical hybrids spiced with strange harmonies. The usual categories fall short of describing the style of these pieces. One listener came up with the labels “uneasy listening” and “easy listening plus interference”, though this ignores the casual electro-punk-jazz approach of the musicians.

Mit „Same” führt uns Folie 1 – ein Projekt von Sabine Reif – in eine bedrohliche Welt voll von launischen Geschöpfen, mäandrierenden Melodien und seelenvollen Texten. So entsteht im Kopf des Zuhörers ein unbehagliches Setting. Klare Drums und unprätentiöse Gesangs­linien verbinden sich zu flirrenden Hybriden, gewürzt mit eigenwilligen Harmonien.
Die Zuordnung zu musikalischen Genres fällt schwer. Ein Hörer erfand die Begriffe „uneasy listening” und „easy listening plus interference”, obwohl sie den Electro-Punk-Jazz-Zugang ausklammern.
